MS.9. Gathering requirements and managing BI projectsGathering requirements appropriately in a BI system is specially complex. Firstly, there is the inherent difficulty of a correct requirement gathering, but in the context of decisional systems, this is specially critical due to the fuzzy objectives in this kind of projects. The main goal of BI is to maximize decision impact in both real-time decision making and future vision scenario modelling. The focus on BI is to answer questions, not summarize data, and to use these answers to gain a line of sight into the future. This implies selecting the right data sources, transforming the data (if necessary), and presenting them so that they can be easily used. Thus, BI projects can be seen as a special case of Data Governance, where we focus on the decisional view of information.
